Dispersal order in place for Basingstoke Town v Bracknell Town football match

A dispersal order has been authorised to help ensure public safety during the Basingstoke Town v Bracknell Town football match on Monday 31 August. 

As part of our policing operation, additional powers have been granted to help officers deal with reports of public order and anti-social behaviour.

While most supporters will attend to enjoy the game, the order will ensure our officers can deal with anyone seeking to behave in an anti-social way.

Under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, the order will be in force for a period of 12 hours, starting at 12pm on Monday 31 August and will remain active until 11.59pm. 

The order applies to the designated area shown on the map.

Dispersal orders allow us to deal with any issues that could impact the safety of those attending the game more effectively and gives our officers the power to order a person to leave the area with no return within a specified period.

Basingstoke Police Sergeant, Karla Leese, said: “We have put this in place to ensure that fans can enjoy the match in a safe environment and so that we can respond decisively to anyone seeking to cause disruption.

“Officers will be patrolling the area around the ground and town centre to ensure the safety of all football fans and local residents, as well as local businesses.

“While we hope our officers will not need to use any of these additional powers, and that everyone attending the match enjoys the football in an orderly manner, we will take swift and robust action where necessary.

“Public safety is always our priority, and I hope this sends a clear message that we will take action against anyone whose behaviour threatens that.

“If you have any concerns at all, please speak to our officers on patrol who will be more than happy to help you.”
